Instructor: Lisa Pope

Skill Level: Beginner

Ages: 16+

Total Class Hours: 15

Description: This class is tailored for beginning painters who want to learn to paint with watercolor. Those with prior art experience are also welcome. Students are encouraged to bring images they would like to paint. I will offer one-on-one guidance to help. We will also do one painting together using my reference photo of a glass subject. Together, we will paint transparent glass with vibrant shadows in a realistic, detailed style. Students will explore how complementary color harmonies, value ranges, edge control, and intentional design improve their paintings. During each class, I will conduct demos to illustrate various techniques.

My goal for this class is to share techniques that work for me when painting transparent glass and shadows. I hope you’ll have fun and pick up ideas to use in your own paintings.

Autumn Leaf Explorations: Watercolor & Mindful Drawing

$130

with Stacey Peters

Calendar Oct 10, 2026 at 10 am, runs for 3 weeks

Instructor: Stacey Peters

Skill Level: Any Level

Ages: 15+

Total Class Hours: 6

Supplies: All supplies are included … just bring your creativity!

Description: Discover how one simple autumn leaf can inspire a season of creative exploration. In this three-session series, students will revisit the same subject through mindful drawing, expressive watercolor, and a final mixed-media exploration that brings both practices together.

The series begins with mindful drawing, using repeated patterns and the simple shape of a leaf to encourage slow observation and relaxed mark-making. In the second session, students will explore watercolor through color mixing, flowing pigments, shimmering Aurora colors, and the unexpected textures created by water and salt. The final session combines these experiences, pairing expressive watercolor leaves with mindful drawing in the surrounding negative space.

Designed for all skill levels, this series emphasizes curiosity, observation, and enjoying the creative process rather than creating a perfect finished piece. With gentle guidance and plenty of opportunities to experiment, students will discover how revisiting a familiar subject can spark new ideas, build confidence, and deepen appreciation for both drawing and watercolor. Participants will take home artwork from each session along with creative approaches they can continue exploring long after the series ends.
